Zac Efron Begins ‘Down to Earth’ Season 2 Production
Zac Efron is continuing his adventures at Netflix. The actor’s reality travel show Down to Earth with Zac Efron has been renewed for a second season, he revealed on social media. Efron shared a photo of himself and his Down to Earth costar Darin Olien filming Season 2 of their show with the caption “Here we go- Down to Earth season 2!”
Efron’s announcement comes after his show first premiered on Netflix last summer, dropping on the streaming in July. With wellness expert Olien, Efron visited everywhere from Costa Rica to Iceland as he learned about culture, food, sustainability practices and more. In Season 2, he’s set to begin in Australia, where production started back up last month.
According to Deadline, Season 2 sees Efron and Olien travel Australia “in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live.” There, they bring their audience along “to beautiful locales where they seek out sustainable practices in a way that is both educational and enlightening, embracing local food, culture and customs throughout their journey.”
The first Season of Down to Earth marked a hit for Netflix, where it made its way to the streamer’s Top 10 and landed on Decider’s Best Shows of July 2020. In his Down to Earth review, Decider’s Brett White praised the series for its stunning scenery, educational lessons, a and of course, its charming host.
“To be clear, ‘Zac Efron travel show” are four words that made zero sense together before this week—but now they make perfect sense. Efron brings his natural affability to the sometimes self-serious sub-genre, taking in the sights and smells and tastes of Iceland with an inquisitive joy that will make you feel just a little like you haven’t been trapped in your home for the past few months,” he wrote, adding, “Between Zac Efron’s blue eyes and the wonders of Iceland, there’s a whole lot of beauty to take in while watching Down to Earth.”
Season 2 of Down to Earth with Zac Efron is set to premiere on Netflix in 2022. The full first season is now available on Netflix.
