Worst airline passenger ever? Outrage over wild baggae hack
That was some wacky runway attire.
An airplane passenger raised eyebrows and became a headache for staffers at the airport over her insane luggage stunt that involved donning ridiculous costumes like a deranged sports mascot before gaming the airline’s weight limits with a sneaky hack.
A clip of her suitcase shortcut boasts over 3.3 million views on TikTok and is drawing in thousands of comments.
“Imagine going through security after,” online prankster Taylor Watson wrote in the clip of the seemingly staged scene, which was filmed earlier this month at the Southwest Airlines check-in counter at an unidentified airport.
According to the video, Watson had just been informed by airline employees that she had “an overweight bag” and would therefore have to pay more to check it. Fortunately, the jokester had devised a way to lighten the load: by taking out and donning ludicrous getups until the bag hit the requisite weight.
In the uproarious clip, Watson can be seen whipping out a chicken outfit and throwing it on as travelers and airport staff look on incredulously and annoyed she caused a delay. Then, after being told her bag was still too heavy, the enterprising passenger took out a gorilla suit and put that on over like some bizarro fashion show.
By the end of her airport cosplay session, the traveler had also donned an avocado suit, three hats, a red dress and a large scarf.
Fellow passengers were stunned at the wild display with one bystander exclaiming, “I’ve never seen anything like that in my life.” Most appeared angry for the bottleneck in making it through baggage check, despite it being a stunt.
Even though she seemingly cut down the weight by wearing her wild wardrobe, the bag was still apparently overweight. So, when the staff looked away, Watson lifted the suitcase with her foot while it was on the scale so it met the mass requirements.
She then heads for security in her multiple getups while the woman behind her shakes her head.
Needless to say, the stunt made waves on TikTok with one fan exclaiming outrage:
“I would be so annoyed ppl testing your temper at work.”
“Reason why there is 5 hours of queue,” chimed in another.
Others hailed her for the clever trick.
“She’s an icon she’s a legend and she is the moment.”
“That’s the kind of girl I would marry,” said another.
Others deemed the hack suspect as the video would cut every time Watson whipped on a new outfit, leading them to believe that her suitcase was empty from the start. “You can see it’s a skit,” said one skeptic. “That luggage is empty.”
Meanwhile, others found the airline’s luggage weight rule “ironic” as it would still weigh the same whether she was wearing it or had checked it in the suitcase.
Either way, this wouldn’t be the first time a traveler has resorted to drastic measures to circumvent checking fees. In 2019, a Filipino airline passenger donned 5 extra pounds of clothes to avoid paying a penalty.
