We sold our home and flew to Turkey for cosmetic surgery — here’s why you shouldn’t

They’ve gone cold turkey on cut-price cosmetic surgery.

Zara Edgar, 36, and her husband Igel Edgar, 39, jetted to Turkey — a bona fide beauty trend amid a rash of recent reports — for $18,000 of procedures and say they’re mortified by the results.

Now, they consider themselves a cautionary tale — and urge others not to travel abroad for budget aesthetic enhancements.

The British couple arrived in cut-rate plastic surgery hot spot late last year, excited to alter their appearances.

“I was trying to get that Instagram look, where everything is perfect,” Zara admitted in an interview with South West News Service, warning the public to think twice before “trusting Instagram as a platform for finding surgery — everything looks good on there.”

The Edgars — who had sold their home in Manchester, England, to fund the trip — said they were enticed by the low price of the procedures after finding a clinic advertising their services on social media.

Zara splashed out on a tummy tuck, butt lift, breast implants and teeth implants.

Igel, meanwhile, had teeth implants and veneers in a bid to attain a perfect smile.

However, Zara’s stomach has been left with significant scarring and she’s still in pain more than three months on from the operation.

Additionally, Igel says his teeth implants feel unsteady and he’s worried he could lose his newfound smile at any minute.

"I wanted to feel good in my bikini. Igel said I looked lovely before. I wish I'd believed him. My tummy feels like there's metal inside. It makes me so unhappy."

“I feel so upset about it,” Zara mournfully declared. “I wanted to feel good in my bikini. Igel said I looked lovely before. I wish I’d believed him. My tummy feels like there’s metal inside. It makes me so unhappy.”

The Brit says she’s similarly unsatisfied by the results of her butt lift, while Igel is unimpressed with his unsteady new teeth.

“Igel’s implants were [also] supposed to give him confidence, but he’s more worried now than ever,” Zara asserted.

“I just want people to know not to do this, do as much research as you can,” she declared.

The Brit says she now wishes she forked out more money for the surgeries at home in England.

“It might be cheaper to go abroad than the UK but it’s much much more important to care for your body than get anything cheap,” she warned.

Zara said she has contacted the clinic who performed the procedures. The business has welcomed her and Igel back for return surgery, saying have a 20-year guarantee.

The Edgars aren’t the only people to speak out about the cosmetic catastrophes they experienced in Turkey.

Last year another British woman traveled to Istanbul for a tummy tuck and boob job after being recommended a budget surgeon by her friends.

However, the operations left the lady with a life-threatening lung infection, as well as gaping holes in her breasts and a giant jagged scar on her stomach.

Elsewhere, a third British woman recently took to TikTok to say she’d experienced botched dental work in Turkey.

The social media user went viral after claiming she was left in significant pain after she wasn’t given the appropriate numbing medication needed to have fresh crowns installed on her teeth.

Another British woman said the results of her dental work were "ugly" and left her in floods of tears.

However, other budget-conscious cosmetic surgery seekers say Turkey is the perfect place for some inexpensive aesthetic tweaks.

Earlier this year, a California woman jetted to the country for a nose job and bragged on TikTok that the results made her look “hot as hell.”

Alexandria Linton, 24, announced her international rhinoplasty on TikTok, prompting backlash from haters online who said she didn't "need" a nose job.

Meanwhile, another social media user said she was wowed by the results of budget dental work she had done in Turkey.

“It’s the best decision I’ve ever made,” the beauty boldly declared.
