Vivek Ramaswamy raises $7.7M in second quarter of 2024

GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy raised more than $7.7 million in the second quarter of 2023, The Post has learned.

The fundraising will likely help boost Ramaswamy’s chances of qualifying for the first Republican primary debate on Aug. 23, but the majority of the haul came from the candidate himself.

Ramaswamy gave his campaign a $5 million loan, his second of his nascent campaign, and also made an additional $400,000 in in-kind contributions, data provided to the Post by the campaign shows.

All told, 70% of the total his campaign brought in from April through June came from Ramaswamy’s pockets.

Just $2.3 million, or about 30% of the total, came from individual donors. His average donation size was around $30.

Still, those contributions brought the candidate to more than 65,000 individual donors, which means he will now likely qualify for the party’s first debate of the 2024 cycle next month in Milwaukee.

To participate, candidates must have received campaign contributions from 40,000 unique donors and receive at least 1% support in three national polls or 1% in two national polls and 1% in early state polls from two separate states.

Ramaswamy, 37, a biopharmaceutical entrepreneur, is a first time candidate who has never held public office.

The candidate’s loan was the second he’s made to his longshot campaign.

Ramaswamy previously reported lending his campaign $10 million to get it off the ground.

The candidate recently raised eyebrows with a scheme to crowdsource his fundraising by offering individuals 10% of the donations they bring in for him.

While the cash will keep him in the game, Ramawamy continues to lag well behind the race frontrunners.

Former President Trump netted more than $35 million in his second quarter fundraising, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis scored $20 million.

President Biden raised $72 million in the second quarter — more than Trump, DeSantis and Ramaswamy combined.
