Viktor & Rolf models drag ‘men’ down Paris Fashion Week runway: ‘This is crazy’
Not again.
Viktor & Rolf, designers from the Netherlands, brought out more bizarre offerings Wednesday at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week — this time subbing topsy-turvy gowns for “clingy” men’s suits.
A video posted to Vogue’s Instagram account revealed that the fall 2023 couture collection, titled “Embodiment,” celebrates “30 years of conceptual glamour, spectacular beauty and provocative couture in an unexpected way.”
Female models walked the runway in an array of bold or mute-colored bodysuits, with black suits — creepily devoid of male heads, hands and feet — otherwise adorning their bodies by sitting on their shoulders, wrapping sleeves wrapped around their waists or sitting on models’ hips.
One woman, also wearing a black suit, had all three suit positions on her back, which looked like she was carrying three men.
The Post has contacted a rep for Viktor & Rolf for comment.
Other interesting pieces included a yellow leotard with block-letter sleeves that read, “I wish you well,” in addition to a block-letter bikini top festooned with “Dream” and paired with skimpy panties displaying the word “on.”
Fans on Vogue’s Instagram slammed the brand’s inside-out approach to fashion, as one person claimed: “There’s a fine line between creativity in fashion and stupidity. This isn’t fashion.”
Another joked: “I’m not clingy. Also me:”
“Every working woman dealing with mediocre make executives who do next to nothing fail up,” wrote someone else attempting to interpret the message behind the clothes.
Extreme Model Management commented: “Ridiculous!!! Why humiliate models and customer like this!! Today’s fashionista and buyer are more conscious of what a brand says… This is stupid.”
In January, Viktor & Rolf went viral for their similar head-scratching designs.
The models wearing topsy-turvy gowns appeared to be just vessels meant to get the garments down the runway.
Some of the gowns appeared upside-down on the models, which seemingly made it difficult for them to watch where they were walking.
Fans had a similar reaction to Wednesday’s show, as one claimed: “This is crazy! This is not fashion/”
