Video captures turbulent ‘rollercoaster’ flight on Southwest
Terrifying footage captured a “rollercoaster” flight out of Hawaii earlier this week that had passengers shrieking in fear as they encountered turbulence.
The 20-second clip posted to TikTok on Tuesday showed travelers letting out collective gasps and screams on the Southwest flight from Honolulu.
“Free roller coaster ride on Southwest last night,” user @homodrome wrote.
At one point, a man pointed to the emergency evacuation manual at his seat as the poster uttered “oh s–t” and “yikes.”
“Bumpy rise on #southwestairlines last from Honolulu night !! Pilot and crew were great ! passengers deserve an Oscar for best performance ina [sic] disaster film,” the post was captioned.
Neither Southwest Airlines nor the video poster immediately returned a request for comment.
The incident came after prominent Washington, DC attorney Dana Hyde died aboard a corporate jet that was forced to make an emergency landing in Connecticut on March 3 amid severe turbulence.
The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating whether stability issues on Hyde’s flight were responsible for her death.
Also earlier this month, seven people were hospitalized when Germany-bound Lufthansa Flight 469 experienced severe turbulence as it dropped at least 300 feet during the flight amid inclement weather. The plane had to make an emergency landing in Virginia.
