United Airlines passenger restrained after attacking own seat in wild video
He practiced some kung flew.
Thought you were frustrated about a seat assignment? A United Airlines passenger had to be restrained by his fellow flyers after he began attacking his airchair in flight, as seen in a bizarre Reddit video taking off online.
The epic seat-down reportedly occurred on November 16 aboard UA Flight 502 from Austin to Los Angeles, South West News Service reported.
Fellow passenger Gino Galofaro, who filmed the wild incident, claimed that he awoke to see the unidentified passenger “kicking the seat” just under an hour from touchdown at LAX.
The footage shows the hellion, who’s clad in a hoodie and sweatpants, standing on his reclined seat, stomping it repeatedly as bystanders look on in shock.
Initially, no one tried to intervene. “The flight attendant walked by a couple times, nobody was doing anything,” recalled Galofaro, who finally decided to put a stop to the senseless rampage.
The San Diego-based addiction counselor said he and two other passengers “zip-tied” the miscreant’s hands and feet and “seat belted him to the seat.”
Upon arrival, the disrupter was met by police.
“Local law enforcement met United flight 502 upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport after a customer became disruptive,” a United Airlines spokesperson said. “We thank our crew for helping address the situation and working to ensure the safety of everyone on board.”
They added that they subsequently “banned this customer from future United flights.”
Galofaro, meanwhile, said he hopes to contact the culprit’s family to see if he can offer any assistance.
Reddit commenters had a field day with the incident.
The original poster joked that the man was “testing out the new lie-flat seats in United Economy.”
“DIY to improve seat comfort and quality,” quipped another.
“There was a screaming child in the seat behind him,” quipped a third. “Now the child is quiet.”
