Trump calls off press conference he claimed would’ve proven 2020 election fraud

Former President Donald Trump canceled a press conference scheduled for next week at his Bedminster club where he had previously claimed he would finally unveil evidence of fraud in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election.   

The legally-embattled 2024 GOP frontrunner said in a Truth Social post on Thursday night he was calling off the press conference on the advice of his legal team.

The cancellation comes after Trump said earlier in the week he would offer an “irrefutable” report on election fraud in the Peach State at Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey Monday morning.

“My lawyers would prefer putting this, I believe, Irrefutable & Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud & Irregularities in formal Legal Filings as we fight to dismiss this disgraceful Indictment by the publicity and campaign finance seeking D.A., who sadly presides over a record breaking Murder & Violent Crime area, Atlanta,” Trump wrote.

“Therefore, the News Conference is no longer necessary!”

The 77-year-old businessman was indicted Monday on 13 counts by a Georgia grand jury for allegedly violating the law while he attempted to stay in power even though he lost the last election to Democrat Joe Biden.

Charges against Trump include violating Georgia’s anti-racketeering law, conspiracy, false statements, and asking a public official to violate their oath of office.

Trump initially announced on Truth Social he was planning to hold the press conference hours after he was indicted.

He said in that earlier post that based on the report, all charges “should be dropped against me & others,” vowing a “complete EXONERATION!”

Overall, 19 defendants, including some within Trump’s inner circle, were hit with legal trouble Monday.

Trump has claimed the election was rigged against him, though courts, state reviews and members of his own administration have rejected those accusations.

Trump is also facing three other criminal cases, including one brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and two federal cases brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
