Tom Brady mobbed by fans in first time at Birmingham City

Tom Brady’s impact has never been more international.

Nearly a week after becoming a minority owner and advisory board chairman of the Birmingham City Football Club of the English Football League, the NFL legend made a trip across the pond to see his new team in action.

Brady, 46, was mobbed by fans at a pub near St. Andrews stadium called The Roost before taking in Saturday’s game, which the Blues won 1-0.

“Any plans before kick off guys? See you at St. Andrew’s,” Brady wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, before the game.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion did the rounds at the stadium on Saturday, meeting fans, signing jerseys, and even bumping elbows with mascots.

“Tom Brady joining the Birmingham City team is a statement of intent,” said Birmingham City chairman Tom Wagner in a team statement. “We are setting the bar at world class. Tom is both investing and committing his time and extensive expertise. … Tom will have a direct impact on the Club. The men’s, women’s, and Academy teams are going to benefit from (his) knowledge.”

The Blues are 1-1-1 on the season and have earned four points, good for ninth in the EFL table.

Birmingham City was relegated back to the EFL Championship following one season in the Premier League from 2010-11, and the club has not finished better than fourth place in the EFL since.

On Saturday, the Blues won off a 91st-minute stoppage time goal from Lukas Jutkiewicz, who netted a penalty kick to give Birmingham City the victory.
