The top airports for private jet landings in the United States
JFK and LAX for thee, TEB and VNY for me.
When it comes to traveling between cities like New York and Los Angeles, the wealthiest celebrities aren’t sharing tarmac with the public at the major airports.
Instead, they’re not-so-quietly taking off and landing in their own private jets, at small airfields like Teterboro and Van Nuys, both hiding in plain sight moments from the heart of New York and Los Angeles, respectively.
Aircraft-tracking site JetSpy compiled the data earlier this month to create a list of the most popular airports among those looking to avoid the crowds.
From places like New Jersey to Arizona, these less visible hubs are the top spots for luxury air travel, making them the best places to catch a glimpse of your favorite boldfacers, assuming you can get anywhere near the often highly-secure premises.
Keep reading for the list of the nine best airports in the country for private jets.
9. Houston Hobby Airport
This port is Texas’ premier destination for private jets, with a total of 21,515 landings.
8. Scottsdale Airport
This Arizona center was the destination for planes to stopover for the Super Bowl LVII earlier this year as the football game took place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
Stars such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Bradley Cooper and Lebron James have flown into the airport.
7. Washington Dulles International Airport
This Virginia hub is popular with political figures and high-priced lobbyists. It’s located just 30 miles outside of Washington D.C. and comes in with 24,740 arrivals.
6. Harry Reid International Airport
Boxer Floyd Mayweather, President Joe Biden and singer Taylor Swift have glided into the area in Las Vegas at certain points.
The airstrip has had 26,006 arrivals this year.
5. Westchester County Airport
This airfield sits just north outside of Manhattan and was constructed during World War II as a base for the Air National Guard. It caters to its share of celebrities with homes in the leafy northern sections of the county, as well as neighboring Connecticut.
4. Van Nuys Airport
The Los Angeles-based port is a welcoming place for celebrities — Swift, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s jets know the territory well. Van Nuys rings in with 28,424 landings.
3. Dallas Love Field
The region’s smallest airport, famously the main Southwest hub, is also where “Shark Tank” businessman Mark Cuban prefers to park his wings.
The reality star is based in the area, and the port has about 31,854 dockings all together.
2. Palm Beach International Airport
The sought-after Florida jetport, serving the very wealthy in Palm Beach, comes in at second place with 33,803 landings. Local resident and former President Donald Trump definitely knows the ropes here.
1. Teterboro Airport
This hotspot is the most popular site for jets in the Tri-State; you can find this bustling airport just 12 miles from Midtown Manhattan, along Route 17 in New Jersey.
A-listers such as Bon Jovi, Miley Cyrus, Swift, Elon Musk and Brad Pit have all experienced their share of landings here..
