‘Ted Lasso’ Season 2 Trailer
Grab your cleats and put your game face on, because Ted Lasso is gearing up for another season. The Jason Sudeikis soccer comedy revealed the first look its highly anticipated second season today, and also set a July premiere date for the new episodes, which will debut on Apple TV+.
In the newly released trailer, Ted (Sudeikis) is back with his signature optimism, despite AFC Richmond’s less than stellar season with eight straight ties. “I don’t care what our record is,” he says. “It’s all about believing everything is gonna work out in the end, exactly as it’s supposed to. And isn’t the idea of never give up one of the things we always talk about in sports? And shouldn’t that apply to people, too?”
When asked by a journalist how many more matches before he hits “the panic button,” Ted replies, “There’s two buttons I never like hitting: that’s panic and snooze.”
While we see plenty of Ted in the trailer, we can’t forget fan favorites from Season 1, including Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Goldstein, Phil Dunster and Nick Mohammed — plus a new addition, Sarah Niles.
Ted himself shared the exciting news on Twitter, writing, “I always hear the question: who let the dogs out (who who who who)? With respect to The Baha Men, I prefer WHEN let the dogs out (when when when when)? ‘Cause guess what, Greyhounds? Our 2nd season starts 7/23! Can I get a Bah Amen!? That’s what I used to think they were called.”
Although it emerged from a character originally created by Sudeikis to promote NBC Sports’ soccer coverage, Ted Lasso has grown into a critically acclaimed comedy since its August 2020 premiere. At this year’s Critics Choice Awards, Ted Lasso won for Best Comedy Series, while Sudeikis took home Best Actor and Waddingham earned Best Supporting Actress.
Earlier in awards season, Sudeikis took home both a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe Award in the Best Comedy Actor category, while Ted Lasso earned two Writers Guild Awards for Best New Series and Best Comedy Series, plus nominations from the Producers Guild of America for Comedy Series, and more.
Apple TV+ has already renewed Ted Lasso for Season 3 ahead of the Season 2 premiere, and you can see the first season in full, where it’s available to watch exclusively on the Apple streaming platform.
Ted Lasso Season 2 premieres Friday, July 23 on Apple TV+. Watch the full trailer in the video above.
