Red Bulls star Lewis Morgan signs two-year contract extension

Red Bulls star Lewis Morgan will remain with the organization for the foreseeable future.

Morgan signed a two-year contract extension on Monday that includes options for the 2027 and 2028 seasons, The Post confirmed.

Soccer insider Tom Bogert first reported the deal.

The Scottish international had one guaranteed year left on his current contract, which did include a team option for 2026, and had been coming off his best season with the MLS club

Morgan, 28, finished the 2024 MLS regular season with a career-best 13 goals and his seven assists were the most he’s had since 2020 with Inter Miami.

The Red Bulls forward looked like a man on a mission this past year after missing nearly all of the 2023 campaign due to an injury that limited him to just five appearances.

The bounceback season earned him Comeback Player of the Year honors and drew plenty of overseas intrigue for Morgan, who has instead opted to remain with the Red Bulls after the club made its first MLS Cup appearance since 2008 last season.

Morgan is expected to be a big part of the Red Bulls’ offense in the upcoming season as the team still looks for its first-ever league championship.

The Red Bulls have had a short, yet eventful, offseasons with several big names departing and the team adding several new pieces in recent weeks.

The organization announced the signing of Canadian defender Raheem Edwards to replace defender John Toklin, who went to German club Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga.

The Red Bulls also added Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in mid-December.

Additionally, the team has been linked to German striker Timo Werner, who is currently playing for Premier League side Tottenham on loan from RB Leipzig.

According to a report from amNewYork, talks about Werner joining the Red Bulls have taken place and the situation remains fluid.
