Plane passenger’s secret carry-on hack sparks debate
She comes with a lot of baggage.
A female plane passenger has divided the internet over her controversial carry-on luggage hack, which involves masquerading multiple bags as one.
Applauding the unnamed flyer as “my hero,” TikToker Kyle Mark shared a clip of the woman’s sneaky trick online, racking up 2.2 million views.
“I know this queen had BAGS hidden behind that jacket,” Mark wrote on the clip.
“But she was bold and she was confident and she got them on in addition to the three that is already one over the limit,” he added. “I stan a fiscally responsible queen. I stan anyone who scams airlines. She’s just like me.”
While the user championed the unknown passenger, others in the comments sparked debate, complaining that the woman was “rude” for scamming the system.
Some were also concerned about the plane being overweight or not receiving enough fuel to travel, while a few others were annoyed at the lack of overhead space due to travelers like her.
“Nope! Unacceptable! Now someone else who legit only has 1 carry on is gonna have to check it at gate cause of her rude a–,” one user griped.
“I despise people like this,” another agreed.
“Nahhh my petty ass would have called her out. Taking up all the overhead space and they also be the ones hold us all up when we land,” someone else jabbed.
“That’s so much effort though just to save a tiny bit of money, why be cheap,” one TikToker wrote.
“Same lady brings a full cart to the 12 items or less register,” quipped another.
“Meanwhile they’ll stop me every time and make me put my wallet-sized crossbody in my backpack to count as one item,” someone else commented.
But this woman isn’t the only one apt at finding loopholes for airlines’ carry-on limitations. Other travel savvy tricks include stuffing an empty pillowcase with clothes and cosplaying as pregnant with clothes stuffed under a shirt.
One user even advised travelers to ship their belongings to their travel destination rather than check them aboard the plane, claiming the cost was cheaper that way.
Another TikToker touted her tried and true budget-friendly hack: wearing all of her clothes in layers.
Although the least comfortable option, the traveler packed on 5 pounds of clothing items to avoid the overweight baggage fee.
