“Everything we are is thanks to you,” the translation of the post read. “We love you infinitely rest in peace.”

Pelé, who led Brazil to three World Cup victories, died Thursday at a Sao Paulo hospital, his agent, Joe Fraga, confirmed. The legendary athlete had endured health struggles in recent years and was hospitalized in November.

Medical personnel at Albert Einstein hospital said earlier this month that Pelé was under “elevated care” related to “kidney and cardiac dysfunctions.” Kely has kept fans updated on his status in recent months and expressed in a previous Instagram post how she and her family were processing the harrowing ordeal.

“These moments are hard to explain. Sometimes it is a lot of sadness and despair, in other moments we laugh and speak about fun memories,” Kely wrote earlier this week.

“And what we learn the most from all of this is that we have to seek one another, hold each other tight. That’s the only way this is worth it. Everyone together.”
