Ohio woman jailed for ordering dog attack that injured girl, 6
An Ohio woman has been sentenced to two years behind bars for ordering her dogs to attack a group of small children, seriously injuring a 6-year-old girl.
Cassie Thierauf, 38, pleaded guilty to child endangerment on April 19 as part of an agreement for the attack in Lebanon, Ohio, on Aug. 25, 2022.
Thierauf and another person were reportedly doing drugs in the backyard when the girl’s mother began to videotape the activity, KBTX reported, citing Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.
An argument ensued and the neighbor went back inside to call the cops while the 6-year-old, her sister and other girls played in the area.
“She called two dogs to attack four little girls who were out front,” the victim’s dad said in court. “My 6-year-old, mauled by two of them while she stood there on her front porch watching.”
In a video provided by police, Thierauf was heard shouting at the mom: “Your kids shouldn’t have f— with me and my dogs!” according to Fox 19.
Although Thierauf pleaded guilty to child endangerment as part of her plea agreement, she continued to deny the allegations.
“I would never use my dogs in a malicious or threatening type of way towards anybody. This all occurred because I didn’t shut my front door,” she told the judge.
But the judge said he didn’t believe her and sentenced her to two years in the slammer with the possibility of two years of probation after her release.
He also ordered her dogs to be taken away and euthanized since they are considered “contraband” in the case.
