Kids meal delivery service worth trying

Whether you’re juggling two kids under two or are a caregiver to young ones, you know from firsthand experience that mealtime can be a tricky feat.

From throwing food to being super fussy about what’s being served, sitting down for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack-time can be a Herculean effort at times. But, it doesn’t have to be.

Enter Yumble: the kids meal delivery service worth looking into. Not only will nutritious, balanced meals be delivered to your home weekly (if you’d like), but it’s the subscription box that makes sitting down at the table fun and stress-free.

Even better, I ordered a Yumble box to try. My two-year-old niece, Julianna, is someone who adores vegetables (especially steamed broccoli and sautéed mushrooms) — which is a rare liking to run into. That said, I knew she would love the idea of Yumble as she readies herself to eat in her booster chair.

Even better, Yumble is adding more meals, snacks and add-ons to its subscription model, so now’s the perfect time to try it for yourself.

First off, Yumble was super easy to get started with. While I selected meals for my two-year-old niece, the platform has a simple interface that allows older kids to select meals themselves.

After you select your six meals, they’ll be delivered right to your doorstep (easy-peezy, lemon-squeezy, right?) Everything is packaged in its insulated and industry-leading sustainable box, too.

With Yumble’s subscription model, you can pause, skip or cancel anytime. Whether you have an upcoming vacation or your child becomes sick for a brief period of time, the brand understands that life happens to the best of us.

After I opened the box, I was impressed to see everything nicely packaged and labeled. After unwrapping each bento box, you just have to pop it in your microwave for a minute and 30 seconds — that’s it!

One reviewer says “it was a little mental vacation for me,” while another said “it’s as easy as Lunchable, but way healthier and more balanced.” While any meal delivery kit won’t be as incredible as a home-cooked meal (if you like to cook, that is), it’s an opportunity to skip meal prepping for a week and rest assured that your kid is getting a healthy meal.

The Meals

Here’s an overview of the meals that came all packaged up in my colorful Yumble box:

  • Creamy Mac N Trees: Gluten-Free Pasta topped with Yumble’s cauliflower-packed cheese sauce and a side of broccoli
  • Chicken Nuggets & Super Spirals: Organic gluten-free chicken nuggets and gluten-free fusilli
  • Fruity French Toast: Whole grain French toast bites with a side of strawberries, mango and a chicken sausage link
  • Yumble UP! Chicken Meatball Casserole: Creamy gluten-free veggie casserole with chicken meatballs
  • Classic Cheese Ravioli: With organic tomatoes in a veggie-packed marinara sauce
  • Pizza Pocket & Broccoli Parm: Cheese pizza pocket with organic Parmesan-topped broccoli

As you can imagine, the meals sound incredible (oh, and looked great, too!) My niece loved reaching for the broccoli, most notably, but I appreciate how you don’t have to think about curating a balanced meal on your own.

The bottom line

Yumble is sustainable and packed with regionally sourced, nutritious ingredients. The balanced (and fun!) recipes make mealtime exciting, and we love how they ship in a refrigerated box.

What’s more, its packaging is 100% recyclable, making this one of the best direct-to-consumer companies we need to put on your radar. Plus, Yumble is pediatrician- and nutritionist-approved.
