Inside Kendall Jenner’s Bahamas 818 Tequila Shack
The 818 area code has gone international. Kendall Jenner recently opened the first 818 Tequila location outside the US.
The Post went there to give readers a sneak peek: The 818 Shack serves $18 tequila-based cocktails and Mexican-inspired bites at the luxurious SLS Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas.
The 299-room monochromatic pink hotel overlooks the sparkling cerulean waters of the Caribbean, providing Instagrammable spots at every turn. It’s difficult to stop taking selfies — even if your sister is on her way to jail.
The Tulum-style cocktail lounge is set inside the incredible $200 million Baha Bay beachfront waterpark, which opened last year as part of the massive Baha Mar resort complex.
Guests feel like a Kar-Jenner walking the red carpet as they descend the stone steps from the SLS building to the first pool to lounge on beach chairs or in private cabanas, or to join some leggy birds in flamingo yoga.
The treelined boardwalk offers everything from ice cream to a stingray aquarium. While soaking up the sun, peek through the palms at the “party pool” bumping Kygo and serving bottle service all day.
A few sandy steps off Cable Beach, Baha Bay boasts 24 water slides, a surf simulator and a not-so-lazy river; luxe poolside lounge areas with full-service private cabanas; the world’s first casino gaming pavilion inside a water park; and now the 818 Shack.
The 818 location made its 242 debut in September. Jenner arrived to celebrate the opening — just in time for the release of her ultra-premium Añejo tequila, the Eight Reserve blend.
Far from being just a shack, the new location is the perfect spot to refuel after the thrill of placing your bets and screaming down slides — bringing a childhood rush of excitement and nervousness.
Visitors should get those Skims ready! The open-air spot offers a full menu of savory snacks, like the $10 tangy esquite, served in flawless bite-sized portions, and the mouthwatering $17 ribeye empanadas with the perfect crunch.
And, of course, tequila! tequila! tequila! Jenner even has a drink named for her: the Berry Mint Kenny — a blend of 818 Blanco, strawberries, fresh lime juice and agave syrup that seemed to be a crowd pleaser.
If you’re not in the mood — or of age — to sip tequila, there are also mocktails and $10 pressed juices, including a refreshing cucumber concoction. Let’s just hope Jenner isn’t the one slicing the veggies.
Guests can relax at the Baha Bay Lagoon, a state-of-the-art 20,000 square-foot wave pool or take advantage of the 818 Shack’s liquid courage to climb the steps of the Thunderball, a high-velocity, six-story, 79-foot near-vertical open drop slide. It’s more dramatic than reality TV.
When you’re tapped out, resortgoers have an easy and beautiful walk through the lush greenery to return to their room at the SLS Baha Mar — or the Grand Hyatt or Rosewood resorts — which are also part of the 1,000-acre Baha Mar.
The 818 Shack is the newest permanent fixture on the Bahamian property, but Jenner isn’t the only celebrity to set up shop at the stunning spot. Bruno Mars hosted a pool party there Labor Day weekend to to celebrate his SelvaRey Rum partnership with Baha Mar, while Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake opened Baha Mar’s exclusive VIP lounge, Nexus.
