I’m a nutritionist — 3 ways to reverse aging in 2 weeks
The fountain of youth may be just two weeks away.
That’s according to UK-based nutritionist Gabriela Peacock, who told the Sun she’s helped high-profile individuals reverse the signs of aging with the right diet.
“The science is evident that we all have the power to make simple life-changing alterations to better our future selves — no matter what genetic hand we might have been dealt with,” Peacock, who has worked with royals like Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry, said.
The author, whose book “2 Weeks to a Younger You: Secrets to Living Longer and Feeling Fantastic” was released earlier this year, said that it’s natural that many people “indulge in unhealthy eating habits.”
The health guru said that junk food, smoking, alcohol, pollution and PFAs from water bottles are all culprits that lead to early signs of aging.
“But we all have the potential to change this,” she told the Sun. “Whatever your age or state of health, it’s never too late to reverse how quickly you are aging and embrace the energy and vigor of a younger you.”
According to Peacock, doing just three things can help slow the aging process for a more youthful appearance.
Avoid sugar
While it may be tough for anyone with a sweet tooth, Peacock advised that saying no to sugar is not just good for overall health, but can slow down aging, too.
The nutritional therapist explained that sugar leads to “chronic inflammation, which is one of the worst enemies of reversing aging.”
Eating sugar can lead to weight gain, but as Peacock pointed out, “energy and hormonal levels will be affected and this will influence how you look and feel,” too.
Get your nutrients
Of course, having a balanced diet benefits overall health, but some nutrients have anti-aging superpowers, she said.
The GP Nutrition founder called out “antioxidants such as vitamins A, C and E” — plentiful in fruits and vegetables — which “are essential in neutralizing free radicals — the culprits behind premature aging.”
Along with antioxidants, she said omega-3 fatty acids can actually diminish fine lines and wrinkles by moisturizing the skin and promoting elasticity. Eating fatty fish like salmon will do the trick. For even more skin elasticity, Peacock said collagen, which can be found in lean protein and bone broth, is essential, too.
And finally, Peacock recommended ensuring a healthy amount of protein, which “does so much good for your body.”
Hot and cold
Extreme temperatures might be an extremely good anti-aging technique.
Peacock said that there are many ways to take the plunge into the cold, including walking or exercising outdoors in the winter or switching to cold water at the end of showers.
“To ease you into things, why not try a few seconds of cold water at the end of your shower?” she recommended. “I now try up to one to two minutes before switching to warmer water.”
Another method to try heat and cold therapy is to step into a sauna for five to 15 minutes and then hop into a cold plunge to help “build resilience.”
“If you repeat this several times the body learns to adapt, and you’ll get used to it,” she added.
