I’m a flight attendant — here’s why bags often get lost and 7 other secrets
Who’s to blame when your luggage gets lost? Well, tags, you’re it!
Globetrotting through the friendly skies with your favorite, most sturdy suitcase might seem sensible to many seasoned frequent flyers.
But a former flight attendant is now warning that making this common mistake is a sure-fire way for your goodies to go missing.
“The reason some bags get lost is because you didn’t remove old baggage tags,” said purported ex-Delta Airlines stewardess, Elizabeth, in a trending TikTok bulletin.
“Always remember to take old tags off, if you don’t want your luggage to get lost,” she advised her more than 11.7 million viewers.
The whistleblower, then, really spilled the tea — most alarmingly on the disgusting truth about airplane coffee and tea.
Unearthing the secrets of the skyway seems to give flight attendants their happy wings.
From sharing hacks on how to score the best mile-high meals, to revealing the reason why airplanes are always frigidly cold, flight crew members are flying to social media, laying bare the once-confidential facts about cruising 30,000 feet in the air.
Before offering a few noteworthy words-to-the-wise in her vid, Elizabeth explained that she was eagerly “exposing everything [airlines] train us to hide from u,” after recently being fired from the role.
She then gave jet-setters some solid tips on how to enjoy the most inexpensive and hygienic trips.
“Don’t ever order airplane ice,” the brunette urged. “The ice on the airplane is contaminated with bacteria and e.coli.”
“The ice touches unsanitary surfaces like the bathroom since,” she added, “and the scoop is never cleaned!!.”
Here is a list of Elizabeth’s cloud-cruising do’s and dont’s.
- Don’t drink any hot coffee or tea: “The pot of water is never replaced and grows mold. Just stick to water.”
- Dress nicely: “If you want special treatment from flight attendants, make sure you dress nicely. We notice how passengers are dressed, and you’re more likely to get an upgrade or a free drink if look presentable — never wear sweatpants and a hoodie.”
- Give a gift: “We aren’t allowed to accept tips. But if you wrote us a nice note with a small gift (like a bag of candy) you’re also likely to get some special treatment.”
- Just ask: “If you want extra snacks just ask for them. You’re not only limited to one snack — we will give you a handful of them.”
- Don’t go barefoot: “Do not take your shoes or socks off when using the lavatory. We think it’s so gross because we see what happens in there.”
- Keep costs low: “When searching for cheap flights, always make sure to clear your search history. The cheapest flights are always on Tuesdays.”
