I underwent the world’s most painful surgery to be 2 inches taller — would you do it?
Talk about going out on a limb.
A 29-year-old influencer who underwent the “world’s most painful operation” to become 2 inches taller is in so much pain that he can’t sleep, Jam Press reported.
Yeferson Cossio, from Antioquia, northwest of Bogota, Colombia, went from being 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall after doctors stretched his legs.
“I underwent the most painful surgery in the entire world,” the influencer told his 11.1 million followers four months ago when he underwent the surgery.
“Would you do it?” he added.
In addition to being excruciatingly painful, the surgery also costs an arm and a leg. It reportedly cost him a whopping $175,000 and can range anywhere between $50,777, and $177,000, the influencer said.
Cossio’s surgeon said that the operation is most commonly performed on patients who have one limb that is longer than the other or when someone loses their limb in an accident.
Cossio had neither issue and said he decided to have the surgery because he has a “complex.”
He’s been criticized for his choice to go under the knife but defended his decision.
“I have a complex — like almost all human beings – about a part of my body, and I have a couple of hundred million pesos to change what I don’t like,” he said.
So far, his road to recovery has been a rocky one, and he may require surgery to lengthen his tendons to relieve some of the pain. He’s scheduled to have another surgery on Jan. 25 and has had to schedule several checkups due to the pain he is suffering from.
“I am going to check that everything is still okay to undergo another operation on 25 January. I’m very nervous, I want this to end, but it’s not possible yet,” he said.
Cossio admitted that he’s been losing sleep after getting the procedure.
“The last 11 or 12 days, I’ve only been able to sleep around two hours, maximum. And that is constantly interrupted by periods of 15 to 20 minutes because of the pain in my legs,” he lamented.
“I have tried sleeping pills, but they don’t work for me. The pain wakes me up and I feel devastated.”
He said he hopes that his body will keep on fighting.
“Maybe there is going to come a point where my body will collapse and I will no longer be able to cope with the pain or anything,” he said.
Cossio isn’t the only one who has spoken publicly about getting the limb lengthening procedure.
Brian Sanchez, a 33-year-old mortgage broker from Georgia spent $100,000 to add 7 inches to his 6-foot frame.
Moses Gibson, a 5-foot-5 41-year-old from Minnesota, paid $75,000 to add 3 inches to his height in 2016. In March, he dropped another $98,000 to add an additional 2 inches.
German model Theresia Fischer, 31, forked over $124,000 for two surgeries to add 5½ inches to her frame, making her 6 feet tall barefoot.
