I dress my 2-year-old in adult fashions — haters tell me I’m ruining her childhood
A mom has been trolled online for posting videos of her toddler daughter dressed in adult-style clothing, rather than the usual little-girl attire most retailers offer.
The woman regularly shares clips of her two-year-old’s on-trend outfits to her 1.3 million followers on her TikTok account.
But amongst the fans who think the girl’s style is as adorable as it is glamorous, there are many viewers who clutch their pearls with disapproval.
The toddler’s wardrobe consists of bougie items from designer stores such as Chanel and Dior.
But it’s her style that has people more concerned than the significant sartorial investment.
Outfits often include leather items (with an ‘adult’ aesthetic), crop tops, short skirts and dresses, and close-fitting garments.
The child usually accessorizes with a lot of bling, and even sometimes patterned sheer and fishnet stockings.
Although the mother has of course every right to enjoy fashion with her daughter, the looks are not the ones you typically see on little girls – hence comments that judge the mum harshly.
The mom reposted one such comment, which criticized a short top and some tight shorts.
“She shouldn’t be dressing like that, she shouldn’t be wearing crop tops,” the comment read, to which the mum replied, “Just because I dress my baby fashionable doesn’t mean I don’t let her be a kid.
“She plays and acts like a baby.
“When y’all are gonna understand that clothes don’t make you as a person. She is a very sweet and well-behaved baby.
“If you don’t like her outfits, don’t follow me to troll hate.”
She later added, “She models clothes from boutiques, that’s all.”
Other viewers supported the mum by claiming that some were envious of the enjoyment that the mother and daughter had playing with fashion.
“GIRLY, ignore them,” wrote one.
“They are just jealous because they wish your daughter is theirs because of how cute she dresses. They just mad.
“Forget these haters cos when she grows up she gonna be stylin’ and amazing.”
