I can turn into your favorite celebrity by shape-shifting
This woman can get you one step closer to your favorite celebrity — sort of.
Makeup artist Evelin Costa has a unique talent: shape-shifting into anyone you could possibly think of.
Using theatrical makeup, a little latex and some cotton wool, she can transform into your favorite celebrity or notable figure.
Having always had a passion for cosmetics, Costa, 25, turned makeup into a business when she was just 15 years old. She went on to get a diploma in beauty therapy and eventually became known as the go-to makeup artist in her city of Shepparton, Australia.
But everything changed for her when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and people from all over discovered her talents on social media.
Costa had to find another outlet for her makeup since lockdowns kept clients away, so she decided to transform herself into Australian politician Daniel Andrews.
She spent five hours getting the Andrews transformation just right, utilizing latex and cotton wool to make a wider nose and saggy, hooded eyelids; using contouring, bronzer, concealer and a dark brown wig to capture his short hair; and even drawing his square eyeglasses onto her face.
At times, she felt discouraged, but she knew it would pay off.
“When I doubted myself, I gave myself a pep talk and reminded myself how ‘legendary’ it would be if I could pull it off,” Costa shared. “Although it doesn’t look exactly like him, it was still so much fun. I enjoyed every minute of the transformation.”
She posted the video to her TikTok account @makeupbyevelin — which now has 1.3 million followers and 52.1 million likes — and went viral overnight.
TikTok helped the makeup artist reignite her passion and she said her first video was “an impulsive decision to try something new.”
Costa had an “overwhelming” response on the social media platform, with the video garnering 35,300 likes and comments saying she created a masterpiece.
“I even received comments like ‘you are so bitchy talented’ and ‘I thought this was a drawing.’ It’s incredible! I’m so thrilled that people loved it,” Costa shared. “One woman wrote, ‘I can’t even with this; I don’t want to scroll past it ever.’ That was the best compliment! Someone said it was the best thing they’d seen all week, and another person mentioned they watch my video every day alongside Dan Andrews’ press conferences. It’s hilarious!
“While I’m grateful for the attention, I secretly hope that Dan Andrews himself stumbles across my transformation. That would be amazing!” she concluded.
After the response she received, Costa continued to post her transformations of other celebrities.
Her transformation into Lady Gaga got 37,900 likes, her Miley Cyrus shape-shift received 1.4 million likes, Khloé Kardashian raked in 2.2 million likes and her most recent transformation as Angelina Jolie got 4.2 million likes.
“Knowing that my videos have touched the lives of countless people brings me an indescribable sense of fulfillment. The encouraging comments, kind words and unwavering support I receive serve as fuel for my creative fire. They inspire me to push myself further and aim higher, knowing that I have the power to make a positive impact and bring a smile to someone’s face,” Costa shared.
