I accidentally ate an AirPod — with no choice but to let it pass naturally
Too bad her bowels weren’t Bluetooth-compatible.
A Salt Lake City woman swallowed one of her husband’s “good” AirPods after mistaking it for a vitamin, she embarrassingly decreed in a TikTok clip viewed over 2 million times.
Realtor Tanna Barker, 52 recalled being out on a walk when she unintentionally ingested the wireless device, telling Insider she was distracted while talking to a friend.
After noticing pills in her hand in lieu of an AirPod, she soon realized the big whoopsie. Barker joins the ranks of a Turkish gentleman who ate a charging cable by mistake.
“I could feel it going down so slow…I was just like, ‘Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I just did that,’” she recounted. “‘I’ve got an AirPod inside me now.’”
She emotionally reported the news to her husband, a man now stranded to use his lesser-quality headphones, and begged him to keep quiet — only to announce the internal affair online soon after.
Medical professionals told her “let it pass naturally” as the battery’s encasing did not pose any legitimate harm.
“One of them asked if I had swallowed both [AirPods] and I said no. And he said, ‘Well, that’s good because it has the magnet in it and that could have caused an issue.’”
On Monday, Barker posted a follow-up video to let the world know that the AirPod had successfully navigated her colon and exited safely. It is unclear what has become of the listening tool upon resurfacing.
“It has been such an amazing experience and such a wild ride,” she said on camera, adding gratitude for being able to “protect” her “mindset” throughout the ordeal.
As it turns out, the Internet was waiting with bated breath for updates and were happy to hear all’s well that ends well.
“Literally woke up thinking ‘I hope the AirPod lady is okay,’” one TikToker commented on Barker’s latest post.
Listen to your gut,” quipped another.
