On Thursday, September 5, the World Cup champion announced that not only will she be retiring from professional soccer, she is also pregnant with her second child. Morgan and her husband, Servando Carrasco, are already parents to their 4-year-old daughter, Charlie.

“This is also not the retirement video I expected when I initially thought I was going to do this because Charlie is going to be a big sister,” Morgan explained in an emotional video posted to X.

Morgan is currently a striker for San Diego Wave FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and today, September 8, she’ll play her game as a professional soccer player with the Wave against the North Carolina Courage.

She appeared in 337 games for the USWNT, where she helped the team take home two World Cup titles (2015, 2019), an Olympic gold medal (2012), and an Olympic bronze medal (2020). She also won three CONCACAF W Championships and one CONCACAF W Gold Cup with the USWNT.
