Gwen Stefani on her ‘skincare secret’ and switching it up from red lips
There’s no doubt Gwen Stefani’s found the fountain of youth.
The “Voice” judge covers the new issue of LuisaViaRoma’s LVR magazine, and Page Six Style got an exclusive sneak peek at her spread and accompanying interview, in which Stefani discusses her makeup line, GXVE Beauty, and how she stays looking ageless.
“Besides exercise and eating right, one skincare secret is hydration. I like my skin to look super dewy,” the 52-year-old artist told the glossy.
So much so, in fact, that she included a hydrating and priming face oil ($48) in her otherwise cosmetics-focused GXVE launch lineup in March.
“It helps give your skin a youthful, moist glow,” she raved.
The stuff certainly seems to be working for Stefani, who still looks as fresh-faced as she did in her “Tragic Kingdom” days, despite citing getting older as one catalyst for creating GXVE.
“I just want to look as good as I can at any age, like we all do, and share that quality
makeup truly does make a big difference in how you feel,” she said. “The magic is in the makeup.”
For much of her career, the star stuck to her signature beauty look: red lipstick and a cat eye. But she’s been venturing out of her comfort zone in recent years, to the shock and dismay of some fans.
“Where is Gwen Stefani’s red lipstick? Her nude lip is throwing my #grammys game way off,” one person tweeted during the musical awards show in 2015, for which the singer ditched her usual slick of scarlet.
“Gwen looks naked without red lips,” another wrote during the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, when Stefani once again swiped on a simple beige gloss.
“It’s just one of those things when you age, and your face constantly changes — you try new ways to look different, and look the best you can,” she told LVR of the paler lipstick looks she’s been test-driving.
“I would collaborate with amazing makeup artists and try new things I never thought I could, especially on ‘The Voice,’ and it was fun to find different shades that worked.”
When it comes to her beauty routine, in other words, Stefani refuses to be “Trapped in a Box.”
