‘Goes with everything I wear’
The cool girls of NYC aren’t fans of extreme heat.
So, to swat away the sweat, fashionistas like Remi Jo Bader are whipping out summer’s hottest must-have accessory: hand fans.
“I can’t go anywhere without [my fan],” confessed the 29-year-old tastemaker in a viral video featuring her pocket-sized appliance in seafoam green.
She gushed over the battery-powered bauble, an $11.99 Amazon find, virally anointing it her “prized possession.”
“You need it,” said Bader.
And hotties everywhere are taking heed.
As Gothamites continue enduring temps of nearly 100 degrees — hellish heights causing train delays and limiting energy resources — sirens seeking relief are turning to manual and rechargeable handheld fans.
In fact, New York ranks as one of the top five states in which internet searches for “hand fans” are currently trending, per recent Google Trends analytics.
Owing to Bader’s influence, devotees of her 2.3 million social media fanbase have scrambled to get their hands on her fave electronic fan, crediting the trendsetter for the anti-hot tip.
Even VIPs such as Penn Badgley, 37, are chilling out with the contraption. The smoke show was spotted cooling himself with the mini machine while filming the fifth season of his Netflix thriller “You” on Monday.
But when it comes to popularizing do-it-yourself fans — devices that require a little wrist- and elbow-grease — the A-list likes Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are due all glory, hands down.
The Queen Bey, 42, turned up the heat with Victorian-style hand fans while slaying her 2023 Renaissance World Tour. And Swift, 34, coquettishly whispered secrets to celebrity friends behind a large, black lace fan at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February.
Monét Guilbeau, 22, a model living in Midtown, tells The Post that she’d simply melt without her hand-operated fan — which she nicknamed “Victoria.”
“Oh, I wouldn’t be able to survive,” said the Columbia grad student.
She snagged a 10-pack of small wooden wavers from Amazon amid the heatwave. And the blond says it’s her best buy yet.
“My fan is really cute — it goes with everything I wear,” bragged the glam gal, “It gets the job done, and I don’t have to worry about charging it.
“It’s absolutely fabulous and here to stay.”
