fresh and fruity to spicy and sultry perfumes
Minibar gin, firewood smoke, whipped cream: welcome to the most eclectic posse of fragrance notes to come down the pike in quite some time.
Rewriting the script on the very notion of “summer” scents, more than a few of these olfactory numbers tilt in the sultry direction. Cases in point: frankincense-fueled “Acne Studios par Frederic Malle”; Arquiste’s “L’Or de Louis,” named for a certain French king and powered by the essence of bonfires at Versailles’ Grand Orangerie; and “Blooming Fire,” a mashup of patchouli and Tahitian Monoi Flower from supermodel Bella Hadid’s luxe new Orebella fragrance collection.
On the hunt for a more classically refreshing concoction? Consider a spritz of the unisexy, apple-infused “Costa” body splash by Re-Eau or Versace’s yuzu-spiked “Bright Crystal.” And trendy types will no doubt latch onto “After Sun” by the red-hot sunscreen brand Vacation, which boasts notes inspired by open-weave linen, plush resort towels, and, yes, crisp and summer-perfect minibar gin.
