Ex-USWNT stars Christen Press, Tobin Heath have been dating for 8 years
Tobin Heath and Christen Press revealed they are nearing a decade of romance.
The USWNT veterans opened up about their long-time speculated relationship on Sunday’s episode of the “Watch with Alex Cooper” Olympics show, saying that they have been together for the past eight years.
“Tobin and I were not really friends. We weren’t really running in the same circles. And then as soon as I actually got to know her, there was just, like, a magnetism,” a smitten Press said of Heath. “And I was like, that’s what I want. And I never looked back. I still feel the exact same way.”
“The other day, someone just said to us, ‘Oh, you guys, these guys just met, you look like you’re in love,’” she continued. “And I’m like, ‘No, it’s been eight years.’”
The two share a long history as USWNT teammates, including World Cup wins in 2015 and 2019, and a bronze medal finish at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games.
While the couple started dating circa 2016, they opted to keep their relationship private – or as Heath, 36, explained, in a “protective bubble.”
“Our teammates knew. … We were never, like, in the closet, like hiding it. Our people always knew what was going on with us,” Press, 35, explained to Cooper.

“It wasn’t until we kind of weren’t playing on the same team that it was a little bit easier for us to come forward and kind of share our relationship a little bit.”
“Sometimes we look at each other, we’re just like, is this actually like real? Are we that lucky?” Heath said.
In the last few years, the pair hasn’t shied away from sharing their relationship on social media.
During a recent episode of “The RE-CAP” show – the podcast they launched together and co-host – Heath described her first impression of Press, who first joined the USWNT as an alternate forward for the 2012 London Olympics roster that snagged the gold.
“I thought you were a little bit of a mystery,” said Heath, who made her national team debut in 2008. “I feel like you were a little detached from the group, and I think I was like a little curious to who you were.
There are so many big personalities on the team … but for you, the way that you came onto the team I feel like was very kind of under the radar,” she added. “And I think I was very curious. I was like, who is this chick?”
The couple co-founded lifestyle brand RE-INC – an “eco-conscious fashion” and “creative goods” brand designed for “all gender identities and body types,” – in 2019 alongside former teammates and USWNT veterans Megan Rapinoe and Meghan Klingenberg.
“We are teammates, roommates, co-CEOs,” Press said. “We co-host our show. We pretty much co- everything, that’s kind of our jam.”
“So it’s a good thing I love you,” she jokingly added, addressing Heath.
In 2020, the soccer stars went overseas together after signing one-year contracts with the U.K.’s Manchester United Women’s team.
However, since returning to the U.S., they both battled season-ending knee injuries.
Press signed with the NWSL’s Angel City Football Club in 2021, but suffered an ACL injury in 2022, which sidelined her the entire 2023 season.
The forward, who recently returned to training, has since been working hard to return to the pitch for the remaining half of the 2024 NWSL season, which resumes after the Paris Olympics.
Heath, a two-time NWSL champion with the Portland Thorns, has been in rehab with a knee injury she sustained in 2022 with the OL Reign.
Despite speculation surrounding the future of her career, the veteran midfielder has yet to rule out a return to the field, per ESPN.
