Ex-flight attendant swears by travel hack to entertain kids on planes
It’s a sticky situation.
Nichola Knox, a mom of two and influencer who runs @nicholaknox on Instagram, revealed her go-to hack when traveling with children.
“Save this for your next plane ride with kids! Painters tape guys – I swear to you. It’s great on the plane but also on vacation,” the Canadian mom influencer — and former flight attendant — captioned her Instagram reel posted on Nov.17.
In the 30-second clip, Knox shares several ways to utilize painter’s tape to keep your child distracted and entertained while on the plane and traveling.
“Label the kid’s cups, a bandaid for when your toddler ‘really needs one,’ taping over locks and drawers you don’t want them getting into,” Knox adds.
The Post has reached out to Knox for comment.
The mom claims she always travels with the colorful painter’s tape to make her travels a bit easier.
“It’s forever the ‘weird’ thing I bring on trips,” she said.
In the video, her toddler uses tape as window stickers, a napkin bib, a snack holder, an extra cup holder or a button blocker or cover.
The mom also uses the tape as an educational tool to count and make letters. Her creative kid even makes a swing for a troll doll, a truck bridge and a hide-and-seek fort.
Knox’s video has accumulated over 6.2 million views, with fellow parents raving over the tape hack in the video comments section.
“This is incredible. Huge brain energy. It potentiates their creativity, is ecological, messes free and useful too,” wrote one watcher.
“The way this would have saved me as a mom… genius!” joked another fan.
“Inflight entertainment that we never thought of! Very creative,” commented Canada’s WestJet Airlines.
However, some people feel like the hack can leave an unwanted cleanup for the flight crew.
“Imagine cleaning up after these people. I would quit my job,” admitted one critic.
“I wouldn’t care so much about cleaning up, obviously we always clean up our spaces with or without kids,” clapped back another person. “Some people in planes make more mess when eating and traveling alone.”
Knox replied to the disgruntled watchers, saying: “I clean [the tape] all up. I was a flight attendant [for] a long time so my seats are always left spotless.”
