Crystal Dunn’s journey ‘continues elsewhere’ after Gotham FC split
Forward Crystal Dunn is done with Gotham FC.
New York may always be home for Dunn, of New Hyde Park, but her time with the NJ/NY NWSL team has come to an end.
It was a “mutually agreed” split, Gotham FC said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
“Crystal is an accomplished player who has achieved so much in her career,” Gotham general manager Yael Averbuch West said in a written statement. “We wish her all the best in the next chapter of her career, and we thank her for her contributions to our club.”
Dunn, a U.S. Women’s National Team player and three-time Olympian, signed with Gotham FC in December 2023.
She appeared in 23 matches (13 starts), registering one goal and two assists. She missed the final part of the NWSL season for what had been labeled as an “excused absence.”
What the next chapter might entail remains unclear.
Dunn took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to thank Gotham fans for their support and said she was grateful for her stint with the clugb, though her “journey continues elsewhere.”
“As I turn the page and prepare for a new chapter, I am filled with excitement for what lies ahead,” Dunn wrote.
“The journey continues and I am committed to reaching new heights and pushing myself to be the absolute best version of who I am. Everything happens for a reason, and I’m ready to embrace this next phase of my career with passion, grace and JOY.”
