Cristiano Ronaldo ignores reporter Jamie Carragher in new video

Don’t expect to see Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo breaking bread with Liverpool alum Jamie Carragher anytime soon.

Ronaldo appeared to snub Carragher on Monday when the 37-year-old athlete crashed Sky Sports’ coverage at Old Trafford, where Manchester United would defeat Liverpool, 2-1.

Ronaldo appeared to be in good spirits when he approached United legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane, who were on the field with Carragher and host Dave Jones. The Portuguese player shook hands and hugged Neville and Keane, but ignored a handshake attempt by Carragher, who looked stunned during the exchange.

“The main man is here tonight!” Jones said, before calling out the awkward moment with Carragher.

“Interesting. Nice conversation with you Jamie,” he continued with a laugh.

Carragher, a former Premier League defender, has been a vocal critic of Ronaldo since his return to Manchester United last summer. Despite the on-field tension, Carragher, 44, appeared to have some fun with the awkward moment, tweeting that he had been “blanked” by Ronaldo.

“Bad night from start to finish! blanked by my good mate Ronaldo, Man Utd showing fight & quality & Liverpool all over the place!!” Carragher wrote.

“I get a custard pie for getting it right on Ronaldo from day one!” he shared in a separate tweet. “The custard pie for him from ETH shows the Manager thinks the same!! Maybe the ex Man United Legends (sycophants!) will now agree with me.”

Rio Ferdinand, a former soccer player-turned-TV pundit for BT Sport, said he believes Ronaldo tried to “humiliate” Carragher.

“Cristiano is very calculated, he’s very aware of what’s going on, he’s not somebody who sits at home and switches off,” Ferdinand said on the YouTube show “FIVE,” later adding that Ronaldo is “an emotional guy and he’ll show that his actions were no surprise to me. I find it funny, I find it hilarious to be honest.”

Last week, Ronaldo said he keeps a notebook containing “lies” from the media about his United future amid speculation about his potential departure.

That news came on the same day that Ronaldo was cautioned by Merseyside Police for smashing a phone out of a 14-year-old boy’s hand during an incident in April.
