‘Ben Affleck summer’ trend inspires slouchy style with a side of iced coffee
Fashion fiends have Ben Affleck’ted with this viral summertime style.
Casual togs, a chilly treat and unmasked dismay are the makings of the hot season’s hottest look thanks to Jennifer Lopez’s ever-edgy and allegedly estranged husband.
“Enjoying my ‘Ben Affleck Summer,’” announced NYC tastemaker Michael Major in a cheeky TikTok clip. “Walking around drinking a Dunkin’ iced coffee while really stressed out.”
Clotheshorses from the Big Apple and beyond are bidding farewell to haute couture from luxe labels to, instead, dress like Affleck, 51 — whose unfussy fits and apparent agitation seem to really resonate with Gen Zs and millennials nationwide.
The Affleck effect comes as the unpretentious cousin of the buzzy “Adam Sandler fashion” fad. The ultra-informal movement invites leisure lovers to mimic the “Big Daddy” star’s signature shabby chicness with baggy tops and basketball shorts.
However, tastemakers with a slightly more elevated taste for vintage T’s, loose-fitting jeans and caffeine are now going with the “Gone Girl” lead’s not-so-glitzy getup.
The Oscar winner was spotted sporting the slouchy swag while celebrating the Fourth of July weekend in Los Angeles sans J. Lo, 54. His “Jenny from the Block” singing spouse spent the holiday in the Hamptons amid their marital woes.
But the anguish of Affleck’s rocky relationship apparently adds to the allure of his plainclothes panache.
“I’m gonna have a ‘Ben Affleck summer,’” vowed Miami-based café connoisseur, Shae, in a TikTok vid. “I’m stressed out with an iced coffee.”
“Ready for a ‘Ben Affleck summer’,” echoed Minnesota content creator Megan Mayday in a separate snippet.
“Looking stressed but highly caffeinated,” added the brunette, gripping an iced coffee and donning a comfy button-up over a black tank top and denim shorts.
But fashion freaks with an affinity for the unhinged are neither opting for Sandler nor Affleck’s flair.
Instead, it’s Jack Nicholson nonchalant élan they hope to emulate.
“Forget hot girl summer,” wrote a devotee of the 87-year-old “As Good As It Gets” actor on X, stitching snaps of the shirtless VIP enjoying pizza, a sandwich and a smoke during a open-water outing.
“It’s Jack Nicholson summer or nothing.”
