lululemon Charegefeel sneaker review: comfort, colors, more

Your feet carry you everywhere — it’s time for them to get a recharge.

The new lululemon Chargefeel sneakers are here to do just that, being the first set of sneakers to come out of the athletic brand for 2022.

The Chargefeel Low Women’s Workout Shoe ($138) and the Chargefeel Mid Women’s Workout Shoe ($148) are the newest edition to the new footwear category, joining the Blissfeel Women’s Running Shoe ($148) and the Restfeel Slides ($58) for a post-workout treat for your feet.

The Chargefeel line stands out from the pack for a few reasons. To start, the sneakers come in both a low-top and a high-top style, which we have yet to see from lululemon before. The Chargefeel Mid has an upper mesh that extends the shoe up over the ankle, in a “second skin” like way.

We opted to try the more traditional low-rise running shoe, but the sneaker is anything but boring. When I opened the box, I was almost blinded by the neon pink color I received, dubbed Flare/Pink Mist on the site. They also come in more muted shades like pale yellow, white and black, but the bright color is actually a highlight for me (no pun intended) since they serve as a great tool for nighttime runs and an outfit enhancement.

I personally have wide feet and no arches, which results in back pain after standing too long and frequent foot cramps that are never fun. Because of that, I’ve always ditched the heels for sneakers, wearing more trendy sneakers like the Cariuma Salvas and Adidas Stan Smith styles.

That being said, my doctor has been yelling at me to change from fashion sneakers to a more supportive athletic style, so when I saw the shape and colors of the new lululemon Chargefeels, I was sold. To work with my wider feet, I sized up from my normal 8.5 to a size 9, as advised on the site, and they fit like a true Cinderella story.

I went off to work to walk the streets of Manhattan — a true test for the amount of curbs, potholes and sheer miles traveled in a typical city workday — with my shoes literally glowing in the sunshine. I also racked up a bunch of compliments, as I don’t think many people had seen this neon color before, let alone in a shoe speeding by them on the sidewalk.

Do I recommend these shoes? After a photoshoot in the office, subway rides, stairs and many miles walked through NYC I can say a wholehearted “yes!” Even with my flat feet, I felt cushioned with every step, the backs of my ankles stayed blister-free and I also felt pretty darn stylish to boot.
