NYPD car hits, kills pedestrian in NYC
A pedestrian was killed Friday night after she was struck by an NYPD car in Queens, law enforcement sources said.
The police SUV was responding to an assist officer call when it crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Beach Channel Drive and Beach 32nd Street in Far Rockaway at around 8:30 p.m., the sources said.
The cop car then struck a parked vehicle, hopped a curb and hit the 52-year-old woman, according to sources.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The NYPD did not immediately comment on the fatal crash.
Photos taken in the aftermath of the accident show the NYPD SUV’s impact with a black sedan parked in the Beach Channel Shopping Center.
Another white sedan with damage to its front left headlight was stationary in the center of the intersection crosswalk.
