New range of Shein jeans sparks controversy
A new jeans offering from retailer Shein has divided online commenters, with many labeling the style “weird” and “dumb.”
But fashionistas have embraced the new trend as the “denim leg warmers” pop up more and more on influencers’ Insta feeds.
E-retailer Shein recently sparked controversy with its pair of high-waisted denim shorts, complete with matching denim leg warmers that sit above the knee down to the ankle.
The set retails for $12.25 as part of the fast fashion store’s plus-size range.
While some say they adore the quirky look of the pants, others have slammed them as being “weird” and “dumb”.
After a photo of a bizarre set was posted to a Facebook page, people in the comments were quick to share their opinion.
“Apparently, leg warmers are coming back … but in the worst way,” the post on Stay At Home Mum read.
“I couldn’t think of anything more uncomfortable #weirdsheinproducts.”
The post quickly racked up hundreds of reactions and comments.
“What season are you supposed to wear them in?” asked one.
“What is this? Either where shorts or pants. Did they run out of fabric in between?” said another.
“I don’t understand fashion. People wear coat hangers and call it fashion.”
“Seriously fashion is getting beyond stupid,” another said.
“For those days you just don’t feel like shaving your legs but it’s also hot outside,” one person commented.
“Awesome! I hate having hot thighs and cold calves,” another wrote.
“Finally I can show off my thigh tattoo again,” said one commenter.
“I actually quite like the look,” wrote another. “Adding to cart!”
Denim leg warmers have risen in popularity after popping up on social media, with many fashion influencers sporting the unique look.
Some have even taken to their old jeans with a pair of scissors to take part in the trend.
