Atlanta United’s Miles Robinson arrested at bar over $5 shot

Atlanta United and U.S. men’s national soccer team defender Miles Robinson was arrested Saturday on a charge of misdemeanor theft by taking, according to police records obtained by Pro Soccer Wire, after he allegedly took a shot of liquor and did not pay for it.

Robinson, 25, posted a $150 bond after an incident at PBR Atlanta — a bar near Truist Park, the home stadium of the Atlanta Braves — where employees alleged he did not pay a $5 bill for a shot.

According to the arrest report, a bartender at the establishment observed Robinson take the shot and then walk away. The bartender alerted the managers. Robinson then accused the bartender of racism after he refused to pay for the shot, the police report stated.

“I was notified by security of a light-skinned black male that snatched a drink tray or shot from a bartender,” the incident report began. “Security requested to have the male escorted off the premises and criminally trespassed.”

The manager of the bar also requested that Robinson be criminally trespassed from PBR.

Per the report, when the detective explained to Robinson that he could pay his bill of $5 and he would be free to leave, the athlete stated, “All this over five dollars bro…”

Robinson did not indicate to police that he was going to pay the bill, and was then taken into custody, searched incident to his arrest, and transported to Cobb ADC (Adult Detention Center), according to the arrest report.

An Atlanta United spokesperson said the team is aware of Robinson’s arrest.

“We are continuing to gather all information related to the incident and will not have further comment at this time,” the team’s spokesperson said.

Robinson is currently recovering from a torn Achilles he suffered in May. The soccer player, who landed a starting center back role prior to his injury, will likely be ruled out for the World Cup.
