How to serve ‘tenniscore’ looks at the US Open

The US Open officially started on Monday and fashion designers, sports brands and even players (former and current) have created a plethora of tenniscore goods in order to help you prepare.

From Better x Fila duds to a Lacoste jersey inspired by Novak Djokovic, to a tennis bracelet that really lives up to its name — brought to life with the help of grand slam champ Chris Evert herself — here are some on- and off-the-court favorites to help you “ace” your fashion game.

The ultra stylish upcycle brand, Better teamed up with Fila to create a collection that celebrates tennis great “Björn Borg and the trademark tracksuits that defined his era of success.” The collection dropped in July and is made up of Filas signature navy, red and white colored sporty deadstock styles that were transformed with Better’s Smart Design Algorithms (SDA), into tailored sports pieces that can easily transition from the court to the streets. All allowing you to look responsibly chic!

Jewelry designer Monica Rich Kosann is launching her third collection of tennis bracelets with 18-time Grand Slam Tennis Champion, Chris Evert, on August 26. Evert can be credited for the tennis bracelet after a match was temporarily halted when she lost her diamond bracelet in 1978 and the idea was born. The Tennis Bracelet Collection is inspired by Evert’s memory of that day with a dripping diamond representing the beads of sweat, emeralds representing the court and lines of diamonds signifying the lines. It’s the one piece of jewelry every tennis and jewelry fan should have.

Two names that are very familiar in the tennis world, Wilson Sporting Goods and tennis legend Roger Federer just launched RF Collection. It’s a collaboration of innovative tennis rackets that range from the most versatile RF 01 PRO style to an advanced lighter frame RF 01 FUTURE. The collection also consists of accessories and performance bags to complete your trip to the courts.

Designer Eugenia Kim has a lot of love for the game of tennis, as she and her husband and Design Director, Christopher Lee first met on the courts. That love is what sparked the creation of Eugenia Kim LOVE, a collection with both “vintage Carrie Bradshaw and balletic French icon Suzanne Lenglen” influences. Which come through in all the girly, yet minimal styles in pale pink, white and black, including pieces within the second drop that just launched (the first was in April) in time for the US Open.

Fashion and sportwear brand, Lacoste recently launched “Player Kits,” a collection of curated wardrobes of the Team Lacoste players. The assortment was made for Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, and Grigor Dimitrov, but can also be worn by any tennis fan. Check out the men’s and women’s pieces on offer at the Lacoste website.

Headphones just got a lot chicer with the launch of Sonos Ace x Sporty & Rich Limited-Edition headphones. Founder of Sporty & Rich, Emily Oberg declared “my Sonos Ace headphones have become a wardrobe staple for me this summer,” so it would only make since to collaborate on a pair that would have her and fans all stylishly transition into fall. The headphones themselves are smooth and sleek with the Sporty & Rich crest, while the case and bag showcase the tennis core influence with Sporty & Rich’s signature green shade.

Italian luxury brand, Brunello Cucinelli launched the “Tennis Sets” Capsule Collection for Spring/Summer 2024, their first foray into tennis for both men and women. It’s the ultimate sophisticated collection everyone has been coveting for “sporting” while hitting rounds at the club. It takes Cucinelli’s signature neutral palette and combines it with lightweight jersey and traditional cotton for a more functional and technical take on the brands aesthetic.

Courtesy of FIT

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) held a “tennis court couture contest” with sponsors IHG Hotels and Wilson in order to celebrate the US Open. The five finalists were on display at the Museum at FIT until August 18 and have now jumped court to either the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center or to Wilson stores around NYC. Take a look (or even a trip to see these in person) at each winner to get inspired for your own opening night ensemble.
