Models strut runway in nothing but duct tape
These new styles seem to be sticking.
Models sashayed down the runway in nothing but strategically placed duct tape this weekend during Miami Swim Week 2024.
The crowd at The Black Tape Project’s show on Sunday — which was rumored to have included Jennifer Lopez — was stunned yet again by another collection of creatively taped designs leaving little to the imagination.
The “swimsuits” ranged in style throughout the show but all seemed to cut it close.
Female models strutted down the runway in all sorts of designs from black metallic rock-n-roll inspired and bondage-esque styles with crisscrossed straps and “garters” to colorful mosaics resembling high-waisted one-pieces made of fish scales.
The put on by Art Hearts Fashion, the show took place at M2 nightclub in South Beach.
The Black Tape Project was founded by Joel Álvarez — also known as Drakhan Blackhart — who describes himself as “the world’s only body tape expert.”
He created his own brand of body tape after spending years taping dancers in Miami’s hottest clubs.
“I had to work fast and make designs that wouldn’t fall apart when they danced, this is where I developed most of my techniques. Fifteen years later here I am,” he explains on BlackTapeProject.com.
The Black Tape Project shows consistently shock viewers as the provocative parades have repeatedly gone viral since 2017 along with other similar brands, such as Miami Art Body Tape.
Along with the scantily clad models this year, viewers at the Black Tape Project’s show were stunned by breakdancing performances — featuring Blackhart himself — models shredding the electric guitar and outfits being pieced together on the runway for all to see.
The brand’s next show is scheduled to get pulses racing during San Diego Swim Week from July 10 to 14.
