How to do face yoga like Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow

This one’s a real stretch.

Instead of going under the knife for the youthful look they crave, boldface beauty lovers like Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow are increasingly opting for face yoga — a series of simple, non-invasive exercises to help firm up skin, reduce wrinkles and even get rid of that pesky double-chin.

And unlike pricey Botox or plastic surgery, all you need to achieve results are your fingers — and a bit of time.

This ease of access could help explain why there are already over 2.3 billion views on the TikTok hashtag #faceyoga, with many users taking to the platform to try the free phenomenon for themselves — one creator even showed off their before-and-after photos with a noticeably slimmer face.

According to The Cleveland Clinic, there can be some benefits to regular facial massages, as it can help to release fluids and get some blood flow in the area.

It’s unclear if there are actually anti-aging benefits to the practice, but the Clinic did cite a 2018 study that surveyed a group of women aged 40 and older, who did facial exercises for 30 minutes each day. At the end, patients looked about three years younger.

But, Cleveland Clinic dermatologist Shilpi Khetarpal, MD explained, it’s “hard to sustain these facial exercises over a long period of time and achieve these results.”

For those still curious, Angela Rosoff, a certified face yoga method teacher, recently shared some tips for newbies with The Sun.

She told the outlet that face yoga is a “wonderful self-care practice for anyone interested in toning the face to create symmetry.”

The first thing you will want to do before even touching your face is attempting to relax your body as much as possible by practicing your breathing.

Then, dive in.

Face yoga to improve the look of your forehead

First, Rosoff focused on the forehead, which is a place where people often develop wrinkles or other fine lines.

To lift “forehead muscles, eyelid muscles, and stimulating hairline fascia,” she began by placing two hands along her hairline, on the top of her forehead, as seen in The Sun.

Rosoff then instructs to lightly pull your hairline straight back, holding it for five seconds, repeating the move twice.

Instead of an eye lift, Rosoff told the outlet that this facial exercise could work just as well.

She began by making a peace sign with her index and middle fingers, and placing them on the temples of her head.

Then, Rosoff instructed to place your middle finger on your hairline, and the index finger below it, as you pull the hairline up to a 45-degree angle.

Like the forehead exercise, hold this one for five seconds and repeat it twice.

Fix the droop in your smile

To get rid of a droopy smile and fine lines around the mouth and between the cheeks, there are two exercises that could work here.

The first one begins by smiling in a way that shows your top teeth, and then putting your middle finger and index fingers together at the corners of your mouth.

Rosoff says to inhale, and bring your smile towards your cheeks with your fingers, holding for five seconds.

The second exercise is similar, but instead of moving your smile upwards, you will try to touch your nose by putting your tongue towards it.

“Continue to breathe in and out as you move your tongue in this position toward one side of your mouth, as if you are licking something off your lips,” she told the outlet.

“In a count of five, then move in the opposite direction toward the other size of your mouth.”

How to get rid of your double chin

Finally, Rosoff’s last tip for the outlet can be helpful in attempting to get rid of that annoying double-chin.

For this exercise, she began with her fingers in the same place as the droopy smile movement, but this time, you want to stick your tongue out and tilt your head straight back.

She then instructs to move your tongue from side-to-side in a five second interval.

The expert notes that these exercises should be done three times in a row, twice a day.

Rosoff claimed that if you do these for 10 days, you should start to notice a difference.
