Dog jumps into Wisconsin police car with ‘Please Help’ note on collar

She jumped at the chance to be saved.

A Wisconsin police officer received an adorable shock when a loose dog named Lola jumped into their vehicle with a note attached to her collar asking for help.

Platteville Police said they were called to the Mound View Park & Campground area over reports of a loose dog, with one officer coming across the friendly animal.

“This sweet girl came right over to the officer and jumped in the squad,” the police department said in a Facebook post about the encounter.

On the dog’s pink collar was a handwritten note that read: “Please help, take me to a shelter. My name is Lola.”

Lola has been temporarily taken in by officers as they investigate her background, as it is illegal to abandon animals in Platteville.

The police department said it is asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify the dog’s original “owners.”

“We would like to speak with them,” the police said.

The heartbreaking post drew scores of local animal lovers to offer to take in Lola while also slamming the owners who abandoned her.

“Terrible awful people. If you can’t handle owning a pet then don’t get one.” wrote Colton O’ Brien, of Howard, Wisconsin. “This dog doesn’t deserve this kind of awful treatment.”

Lola’s case is reminiscent of Roadie, an 18-month-old German shepherd mix who was found tied to a tree in Indiana with a heartbreaking note from her owner, who said he had lost his job and was about to lose his home due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

“My name is Roadie. I was a rescued puppy from a litter of 10,” the note read, according to WTHR. “I was a spoiled girl, my dad gave me my own couch to lay on and my own memory foam bed.

“My dad lost his job and soon his home from COVID,” it added.
