Man arrested for dumping toilet at LA shopping mall claiming it was a bomb
What a crappy thing to do.
A California man allegedly caused a bomb scare when he left a painted toilet at a shopping mall with a note claiming it was an explosive device, cops said Friday.
Timothy Taratchila, 22, of Burbank, was arrested for making a false bomb threat after dumping the graffiti-covered toilet at the Americana at Brand shopping center in Glendale Thursday night.
Police responded to a bomb threat at the mall after the toilet and subsequent note were discovered at about 8 p.m.
The toilet had at least two skulls painted on it, as well as the word “attempt”, according to an image released by cops.
The shopping center was quickly evacuated before the LA County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad deemed the toilet safe some three hours later, according to cops.
Taratchila was identified as the alleged culprit after authorities reviewed surveillance footage and spoke to various witnesses.
“As the LASD bomb squad meticulously worked through their scene safety protocols, officers searched for the suspect,” police said in a statement.
The suspect was later cuffed and is being held at the Glendale Police Department in lieu of $15,000 bail.
