Construction worker impaled by rebar at Miami site: report
A construction worker was seriously injured after falling onto a piece of rebar at a Miami job site on Wednesday.
The City of Miami Fire Rescue responded to the grisly scene at 77 SE Fifth St. in the city’s downtown shortly after 1 p.m., Lt. Pete Sanchez told WPLG.
“Paramedics treated and stabilized the patient while rescue specialists secured him using a harness,” Sanchez said.
“Once the patient was secured, they used cutting tools to free him from the rebar, which penetrated his lower body and went through the torso.”
Firefighters worked with the on-site crane operator to gently use a stokes basket to lower the victim to the ground, video obtained by the outlet shows.
He was then taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he is recovering in stable condition.
No additional details were immediately available.
