Mother of the bride slammed for white outfit ‘monstrosity’
A mother who allegedly tried to outshine her daughter on her wedding day by wearing an all-white, sequined, feathered gown topped with an extravagant white flowery hat got called out online in a savage anonymous post.
A Reddit user, who goes by @u/lolling94, posted a photo of the woman on Aug. 5, captioning the post “(S)Mother of the bride,” with clapping emojis.
Many users who stumbled across the photo of the mother, whose name was not disclosed, could not believe how dramatic her dress was.
“That’s so many feathers and rhinestones for a dress that is not in a beauty pageant,” one person commented underneath the Reddit post.
“Race Day hat with Vegas dress. What bird died to create that monstrosity?” another chimed in. “Looks like a circus horse.”
“Why would the bride’s mother do this? She could have gotten the same style in another color,” one said.
Unfortunately, there has been a pattern of mothers — and mother-in-laws — forgetting the unspoken rule around wedding dresses.
Jasmine Hopper, a blushing bride, revealed on TikTok the unforgivable moment her hubby’s mom wore a white dress on Hopper’s big day.
Her toxic in-law “practically showed up in the same dress [she] was wearing, I really had no reaction other than, ‘Huh. Maybe she shouldn’t be wearing that. That’s weird,’” Hopper sighed.
The groom’s mother reportedly attempted to convince the couple the dress was not white but cream with gold sequins.
“I’m not blind, and neither is everybody I know,” slammed Hopper. “That was a white gown. it was absolutely a white dress — a sequined, lace, mermaid-style dress, like mine.”
