‘I always worry about the influence peddlers’

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) sidestepped a swipe at Hunter Biden’s wonky business dealings, bemoaning instead a revolving door of “influence peddlers” in Washington, DC.

The pivot came Wednesday after CNN’s Jake Tapper — who named-dropped Hunter — asked Warren for her thoughts about those near to President Joe Biden “making tens of millions of dollars because of their closeness to him.”

Rather than blasting the first son outright, Warren lamented a DC culture of currying favors and cashing in on government gigs.

“I always worry about the influence peddlers in Washington, regardless of party affiliation,” Warren told Tapper. “I have spent a lot of my time in Congress working on is how we bring just more ethics and more oversight in general to everything that we do in government.”

Tapper took pointed note of the Republican-led House Oversight Committee’s recent revelations involving Hunter Biden’s overseas dealings.

On Wednesday, the panel unveiled bank records that allegedly showed the Biden family and its allies raking in some $20 million from foreign sources, including from Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Warren has long been a staunch advocate of cracking down on Wall Street and rooting out the outsized influence of money in politics.

The 74-year-old progressive darling eschewed offering her opinion on the Oversight panel’s allegations specifically.

But she asserted the country needs to clearly correct the influence peddling problem.

“We got to shut down the revolving door. We got to have ethics rules that apply to everyone. That’s we got to do both to make government function better,” she added.

Hunter Biden’s former longtime business partner Devon Archer has argued the first son allegedly leveraged the family brand for person benefit.

“I think you know you got to be an expert in knowing the guy and he was the guy that was the expert in knowing the guy,” Archer told former Fox News host Tucker Carlson about how Hunter Biden helped navigate the labyrinth of DC regulations.

“Understanding a regulatory environment means selling access at the end of the day. That’s how I interpret it and I think that’s how most people in Wall Street whether they admit it or not interpret it,” Archer added.

President Biden and the White House have repeatedly insisted the elder Biden was not involved in his son’s business affairs.

Warren previously vied unsuccessfully against then-candidate Biden in 2020 for the Democratic presidential primary nod.
