Dramatic video captures passengers evacuating Delta flight after tire blows

Dramatic video captured Delta Air Line passengers evacuating a plane on slides after it blew a tire that burst into flames upon landing in Atlanta.

Flight 1437, a Boeing 757 carrying 190 passengers from Richmond, Virginia, landed at about 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, 11Alive reported.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the aircraft on a report of a blown tire, as the inflatable slides were deployed for the passengers to evacuate.

One of them praised the swift response by the ground personnel and flight attendants after the mishap, which left at least one person hurt.

“The Delta team was extremely organized and professional with no panic,” passenger Bruce Campbell, who shot video of the scene on the tarmac, told 11Alive.

“There are probably 100 ground safety personnel here and 20 vehicles so the response was amazing,” he said.

“It sounds like we blew a tire, 1437, is that correct?” the pilot says.

“Yes sir, we did see smoke and fire coming off one of your tires,” the controller responds, adding that emergency vehicles are on the way.
