Woman compared to alien after beauty treatment gone wrong
Her new look is raising some eyebrows.
Tamika Cleggett-Murphy, from Perth, Australia, said she went in for an eyebrow wax recently but was hospitalized for allergies after the technician tinted her brows — unbeknownst to her, the Sun reported.
Cleggett-Murphy posted a video recounting her ordeal to her TikTok account that already has 285,000 views, and showing off her post-treatment face, which was reportedly swollen for five weeks.
“Went in for a brow wax and they applied the tint,” she says in the TikTok video, along with a slideshow of pictures of her swollen face.
In the comments section, her followers shared their support and also joked that she looked like an alien from the swelling.
“Take me to your leader.👽 just kidding I hope you’re ok!😂,” someone wrote.
“Omg, places should always do a patch test before hand,” another said, prompting Cleggett-Murphy to reply.
“Yes definitely- i already knew I was allergic, unfortunately they didn’t advise they were tinting my eyebrows. this video is for awareness,” Cleggett-Murphy explained.
“That happened to me.. but to my lashes… I didn’t know I was getting tinted,” said another person in the comments section.
In her comments section, Cleggett-Murphy said that she’s recovered and is trying to stay lighthearted.
“The only thing you can do is laugh it off – I’m good thank you,” she said.
Some beauty treatments come with some ugly risks.
One woman claimed that an anti-aging treatment left her with a “mummified” face. Another woman said she got a nonsurgical treatment for her double chin that left her with a lizard neck.
