I’m 75 but aging in reverse — people say I look 20-something now
Long-retired Norma Williams claims she has overcome the aging process, looking and feeling better than she did at 18.
Originally from Liverpool, 75-year-old Williams has previously grabbed the public’s attention by declaring that she is in peak condition and has “more energy than a teenager.”
Now, Williams is claiming that she has been able to reverse the aging process altogether, somehow turning back time at a “cellular/molecular level,” she alleged.
“I’m a bit wrinkly, but as for the rest, I’ve bucked the trend,” Williams, who now runs Umbria Holiday Rentals in Spoleto, Italy, told NeedToKnow.co.uk.
As for avoiding the typical symptoms of getting older, Williams says she has “no aches or pains, and no injuries that have failed to heal” and that her “stamina has no limits.”
“When I compare myself to younger people, I’m referring to people in their late 20s to early 30s because this is the age range when humans are at their fittest — and doctors tell me that my body is at peak fitness in comparison to this age range,” Williams boasted.
She continued, stating that her doctor says “I have the physiology of an extremely fit 20-year-old.”
Williams believes that with age-related physical deterioration, “you become slower, forgetful, fatter and more sedentary — so the wisdom goes.”
Not for her, though. “As far as mental agility is concerned I couldn’t be sharper. I run a holiday rental business, I model and I’m extremely physically active — all this requires mental stamina.”
Yet, Williams admits she was “certainly not born this way” and has an “abysmal” genetic background of family members struggling with heart conditions, tuberculosis, strokes and cancer.
After suffering from poor health in her youth, Williams attests that she fully regained her well-being by the age of 50.
“Once I’d recovered from every ailment under the sun, something remarkable happened. My good health began to accelerate. Something had changed in my body,” Williams expressed. “After all, having spent more than half my life suffering pain and illness, I’m now in perfect health and at peak fitness.”
Williams believes she is now “reaping the benefits” of having responded to her “ill health in particular ways” for years.
For much of her twenties, Williams was overweight, and she has previously stated, “The biggest difference between me in my 20s and me in my 70s is, quite simply, energy.”
“My energy levels have increased exponentially over the past 50 years — and that’s what drives me to live the way I do now,” she added. “I have shown no signs of slowing down — if anything, I’m faster and have more energy with every year that passes.”
To ensure that she stays active, Williams works out and goes on 5.6-mile long walks every day.
Williams also asserts that most people are shocked to find out she is 75, with strangers allegedly stopping to ask how old she is.
However, Williams isn’t opposed to the aging process, despite believing she has effectively halted it.
“Aging should be celebrated,” she affirms, “you’ve lived longer than others and you’ve acquired more wisdom.”
