North Carolina pol Tim Moore accused of spying on, threatening mistress’s ex

North Carolina’s House Speaker is accused of hiring a lackey to plant a camera outside the home of a former employee — whose wife he allegedly subjected to years of “degrading” sex acts.

Rep. Tim Moore allegedly used his political influence to bed former Apex Town Council member Scott Lassiter’s wife, Jamie Liles Lassiter, over the course of their three-year extramarital relationship, according to a lawsuit filed June 18.

After Lassiter, 36, confronted the Republican legislator about the infidelity, Moore allegedly hired an unidentified goon to install a camera on the Lassiter’s Raleigh property earlier this month in an effort to keep the tryst under wraps.

“In an effort to cover up Defendant Tim Moore’s unlawful conduct with Mrs. Lassiter, upon information and belief, Defendant Tim Moore and Defendant John Doe willfully and wantonly interfered with [Lassiter’s] property rights and right to privacy by entering upon [Lassiter’s] property in the middle of the night and installing equipment intended to surreptitiously record [Lassiter’s] private actions in his own home,” the lawsuit states.

Lassiter claims to have found the camera inside his flower bed in the early hours of June 1, on what would have been his and Jamie’s 10th wedding anniversary.

The two had separated in December after Jamie admitted to her affair, but refused to break up with the House Speaker out of fear he would wield his political power to terminate her position as a North Carolina court clerk.

Lassiter swapped out the spy device — which he claims was planted by a stranger on behalf of Moore — for his own camera in order to catch the person who planted it.

Six nights later, the lackey returned at 3:18 a.m. to retrieve the camera but realized it wasn’t the one he installed and tried to destroy it, the lawsuit alleged.

Lassiter, however, had already uploaded pictures of the intruder to his cloud.

“John Doe is currently an unidentified defendant.  We would like to identify him as soon as possible so that he can be named and served in Mr. Lassiter’s pending civil action,” Lassiter’s attorney Alicia Jurney told the DailyMail.

“It’s upsetting to realize that, while he was sleeping in what he believed to be the privacy of his home, an unknown person was setting up a hidden camera only a few yards away intending to capture him in this intimate setting.”

The lawsuit includes seven claims against Moore and his goon, two of which directly accuse Moore of carrying out an affair with Jamie — North Carolina is one of the few states that allow spouses to sue someone for interfering with their marriage.

Lassister claims Jamie began sleeping with the politician in hopes he would help elevate her position at the North Carolina Conference of Clearks Superior Court.

She admitted to the affair in December after an assistant principal at a middle school took a picture of the duo leaving a steakhouse together, but later refused to break up with him “for fear of retaliation,” despite hoping to save her marriage.

“Mrs. Lassiter tearfully confessed that she had been involved in an extramarital affair with Defendant Tim Moore for more than three years, that she had engaged in sexual activity with Defendant Tim Moore … and that she feared ending the relationship with Defendant Tim Moore would result in losing her job,” his suit claims.

Jamie was not the only one who Moore pressured into sexual acts, according to the lawsuit — Moore allegedly convinced Jamie to take part in “degrading … group sexual activity with others whom he had power or influence” and others seeking “political favor.”

Lassiter confronted the Republican inside a Raleigh restaurant, where Moore admitted to the affair before asking Lassiter “on a completely unrelated note” whether there was anything he could do for Lassiter to keep his lips sealed, according to the court documents.

“[Lassiter] angrily told Defendant Tim Moore that he did not want any political favors,” the lawsuit states.

That’s when Moore allegedly turned to surveillance in an effort to keep the tryst a secret.

“Defendant Tim Moore, either personally or through an agent authorized to act on his behalf, requested that Defendant John Doe unlawfully enter upon [Lassiter’s] real property and place a motion-activated camera on [Lassiter’s] property to capture photos and videos of [Lassiter] that Defendant Tim Moore could use to persuade [Lassiter] not to pursue any of the valid legal claims against him,” the documents show.

Moore — who has served in the North Carolina State House since 2002 — has vehemently denied the Lassiter’s claims, telling News Observer that Jamie was separated while the two carried out an “on-again, off-again” relationship.

The Republican speaker, who is divorced, said he will “vigorously defend (the lawsuit), stand up for myself, and also look at any countersuits that we have.”

Jamie also denied the claims, stating that her former husband’s $200,000 lawsuit is “baseless” and that he suffers from “serious mental health and substance abuse issues.”

“The claims are not only false but impossible as we’ve been separated with a signed separation document for years,” she told WRAL News.

“To be clear, I’m a strong professional woman, and the only person who has ever abused me or threatened my career was my soon to be ex-husband. Our marriage was a nightmare, and since I left him it has gotten worse. We are reaching the end of our divorce process and this is how he’s lashing out.”

Rep. Moore did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
