Polyester carry-on that fits everything is summer ‘it’ bag
Jet-setters? More like trendsetters.
This summer’s “it” bag is none other than a polyester carry-on, ideal for this season’s wanderlust.
For less than $20, the Kono duffle bag is being touted as the perfect carry-all that will fit toiletries, several outfits, shoes and accessories.
Content creator @franchescarosee loaded her Kono bag with bikinis, gym sets, sandals, dresses, loungewear, her hair straightener and even her laptop — claiming she could have fit even more in the compact duffle.
“I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m getting in with this,’” she said last week in a viral clip, shocked she “got through” airport security with the bag in tow. “It looks so big I thought, ‘I’m 100% going to get charged for this.’”
“I honestly could have put so much more in there as well,” she added. “It’s mental.”
Budget-savvy travelers have long struggled to creatively pack everything into two compact bags, with many attempting to smuggle more than their share onto the aircraft.
Some passengers stuff pillows with their belongings or wear layers of clothes to avoid extra fees.
As a result, an influx of weekender dupes from Amazon have taken over TikTok, with some branded as the “Ryanair cabin bag” due to their ability to fit underneath the Irish airline’s seats or in overhead storage.
With over 63 million views on the topic, TikTokers have been flaunting their polyester travel accessory as Ryanair’s strict carry-on policy that limits under-the-seat bags to 15 by 7 by 9 inches continues to draw backlash.
“The viral Ryanair cabin bag is the real deal,” boasted one creator, showing his tightly packed bag fitting snug in the measurement compartment at the airport.
The airline commented in response: “Play 👏 by 👏 the 👏 rules 👏we👏can👏be 👏besties.”
While the European airline doesn’t service the US, its baggage guidelines are similar to other carriers’ rules.
United, for example, limits personal items to 9 by 10 by 17 inches and overhead luggage to 9 by 14 by 22 inches.
In the US, “Pretty Little Liars” alum Shay Mitchell’s luggage brand Beis has become a viral sensation due to the chic, matching color palettes and, of course, the carry-ons’ ability to store the essentials.
On TikTok, the brand’s hashtag has scored over 214 million views, as globetrotters show off the neutral-hued bags online.
Last month, a user boasted about the brand’s weekender carry-on that she was “influenced” to purchase, writing, “For anyone wondering, the mini beis weekender does fit under the seat in front of you on a plane. this is my all time fav [sic] personal item bc [sic] it fits so much in it.”
“The only travel bag you need,” exclaimed another thrilled customer.
