Actor Edward Norton among AOC’s top donors

Actor Edward Norton’s latest role appears to be bankrolling New York City’s biggest socialist.

The “American History X” star has given more than $13,000 to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez since 2020, Federal Election Commission records show.

He was among AOC’s top individual donors for the first quarter of 2023.

The actor frequently plays the part of cheerleader to the socialist Congresswoman online, a review of his social media posts reveal.

“Thank you @AOC The staggering scale of the hypocrisy is exhausting … doubly so in a week we learn that the operational core of our government, including our nuclear/military security complex has been brazenly attacked by Russia at an unprecedented level. GOP silence,” he wrote in a December 2020 tweet applauding AOC after she went after Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

He appears unfazed by her far-left ties.

“The only dangerous socialists in this country are banks & all the other publicly subsidized corporations,” he offered in February 2020.

In a 2015 interview, he told The Independent, “Socialism for some people carries a pre-Sixties definition that puts certain people’s teeth on edge, as do words like ‘conservative.’ I think that labels are limiting and reductive and I wish more people defined themselves as progressive. A lot of what we are seeing in the world, politically, is not so much about left-wing and right-wing but more about progressive versus regressive vision.”

While his donations to AOC are relatively recent, Norton’s been a big Democratic Party funder for years.

He gave $41,400 to former President Obama and more than $58,000 to the Democratic National Committee.

Norton has also hobnobbed with far-left mega-donor George Soros. The pair participated in a Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting in 2015 along with other A-listers like billionaire Richard Branson and Charlize Theron.

A descendant of slave-owners and Pocahontas, Norton is the grandson of affordable housing advocate James W. Rouse and currently serves on the board of trustees for his Enterprise Community Partners foundation. Norton told NBC his 2019 film “Motherless Brooklyn” was written “as an homage to the things he cared about.”

“Edward has always proudly supported progressive Democratic candidates,” a rep for the actor told The Post.

Hollywood has long been a home for lefty activists, but some fellow — and far less famous — thespians expressed dismay by Norton’s AOC ties.

Bo Dietl, a regular in the films of Martin Scorsese, said he was “shocked” to learn of Norton’s donations.

“Not going to give him a f—ing part in any of my movies,” he said.
